VIRTUAL CYCLING
Obviously the best way to cycle is to get back on a bike and for this reason we support the programme called Re-Start Cycling to help people who have long given up cycling get back on their bike but there is another option - virtual cycling. Virtual cycling means having either a whole exercise bike, or simply a set of pedals connected to the internet so that you can see a road unfolding in front of you. it is now possible to connect the pedals or the bike to the programme on your screen so that when you are going up a hill the resistance gets stronger in your pedals!
Even without virtual reality cycling at home is a very good way to keep the lower limbs strong and supple even for , or perhaps particularly for, people with dementia. the home cycling Peloton and Zwift are very popular with younger enthusiasts but there is no age limit.
