THE LEARNING ZONE - LEARNING NEVER STOPS
Learning covers many activities, such as learning a musical instrument or learning how to work in a voluntary organisation but there is increasing evidence about the benefits of more conventional learning opportunities. This has been summarised in the Centenary Commission report on Lifelong Learning
The picture above shows learning in a group and the University of the Third Age, the U3A, is to be praised for its excellent work which emphasises the benefits of learning in a group but this is difficult for many people. Also people may want to learn skill which is not on offer locally and for this reason there is growing interest in learning online in groups. This, of course has been one of the founding principles of the Open University, which played a key role in the development of the U3A. To meet the need for the development of practical skills a new organisation has developed - Learning With Experts
Learning With Experts shows just what can be achieved through the creation of online communities, and these communities could nee learning how to understand ageing and how to adapt to it, how to increase fitness, how to prevent and cope with disease and, most important of all, develop different, positive beliefs and attitudes
